PRODUCE 101

 

I recently caught an episode of a new K-variety 'Produce 101'. This is a reality competition show to recruit Kpop trainees in a mega competition to select top 11 candidates to form a new pop idol group 1.0.1 .

 

 

 

Girls from different companies were selected by a team of professional judges who are well known in the industry. You get to witness the transformation of many girls who grow professionally and stronger through each competition and challenge.

 

 

 

It is interesting to see that the girls were graded A, B, C, D and F as they underwent different training sessions to work on their weaknesses. Well..there is definitely drama too. You get to see a A grader drop out and a F grader progressing to join A graders. This is indeed a good show to share the inside stories of the Kpop industry.

My favourite girl is the one right in the middle! I find her very charismatic. She has a Jappy look.Which one do you like?

I think they will be the new force not to be reckoned with. Looks very promising!

Recommended drama #2: Misaeng
 

 

Misaeng is an interesting drama that focuses on everyday office life of the working class in South Korea. Some of you may be thinking that this will be a boring drama. Who wants to watch office scenes when we are back from work? Duh...

 

Before you decide to give it a miss, do consider watching the first few episodes of the drama as it will give you a nostalgic recollection of your personal experience when you start work as a rookie.

 

The drama starts with a refreshing looking Yim Si-Wan who has to abandon his dream as an accomplished professional chess player due to unforeseen changes at home to work in an office. He did a good job to portray the uneasiness and stress faced by a new office worker who is new to the corporate environment.

 

 

If you have experience working in a corporate environment before, you will be relate to many incidents presented in the drama.

If you are thinking of which drama to watch recently, think no more! Watch Descendants of the Sun today! You will be hooked to the drama in no time. The scene opens with an impressive background with Soong Joong Ki's role as Captain Yoo who is an extremely charming and highly capable soldier in South Korea. You will be impressed with the cinematography and the resources they use to make the scenes look as realistic as possible.

 

Song Hye Kyo acted as a devoted and capable doctor in this drama. However she started to review her professional beliefs and values of being a doctor due to the commercialism of private hospital. In her journey throughout the plot, she grows professionally and spiritually as she faces different challenges in her roles as a doctor. It is amazing to see how both lead characters' performances in showing transitions at different stages of their life!

Are you impressed with it? I was amazed that a Korean drama could look like a movie. A lot of budget has been pumped into making this drama by famous producer. Many scenes are iconic and aesthetically appealing. There is seldom a lull moment when you feel bored throughout each episode. There is 16 episodes by the way but you will definitely finish it sooner than you expected!

I love the songs in this drama too. Here's one of my favourites. Check it out below! I am truly impressed by top K-Pop boy band EXO's Chen vocal capabilities!

The song is addictive, isn't it? I can hear this all day: at work or in the car...  :)
